Baptism is an important Sacrament and being baptised is an important part of being welcomed into the family of the Catholic Church and beginning one’s journey of faith.
The Baptism Ceremony
By asking for your child to be Baptised, you are making a promise to bring your child up in the Catholic faith and you are asking your parish community to help you to do that.
It’s important to think about the name you give to your child and it’s preferable that you include a name which has some religious significance.
One of the key features of a Baptism is the role of the godparents. Godparents play an important role in caring for the child’s spiritual and physical wellbeing. Both a woman and a man are chosen to fulfil this position in the infant’s life, and so a portion of the Baptism ceremony will focus on these two select people.
Our parish baptism team will help you plan and prepare for your child’s baptism and will assist the priest at the ceremony, representing the community in welcoming your child.
Special arrangements can be made for older children and adults wishing to receive the sacrament of baptism.

How to book a Baptism
Baptism takes place on 3rd Sunday of every month after 11.30am Mass. Please bring a white shawl with you and a Baptismal Candle to the Church on the day of baptism.
